Smart packaging enhances food safety and security

The European Organization for Packaging and the Environment (EUROPEN) called on the European Commission on 20 March to recognise packaging as an essential component in maintaining the uninterrupted flow of product groups that the Commission has identified as critical such as “health-related and perishable goods, notably foodstuffs.” StePac demonstrates how its modified atmosphere packaging solutions can help alleviate many of the concerns related to food contamination and food security.

International Strawberry Symposium, new dates announced

The International Strawberry Symposium’s ninth edition has been postponed until 2021, on 1-5 May. The event will help to bring the scientific community back together after a period of global difficulty. Given the SARS-CoV-2 emergency, the ninth edition of the International Strawberry Symposium, initially planned for May 2020, will take place in Rimini on 1-5 May 2021.

SARSCoV2 – VOG tackles the situation

Cibus rescheduled for early September

Cibus has been rescheduled for early September, from Tuesday 1st to Friday 4th September 2020. The unpredictable development of the COVID-19 outbreak and specifically the intensification of flight restrictions from and to Italy have made the postponement necessary. Therefore, after talks Fiere di Parma and Federalimentare have mutually agreed today to reschedule Cibus 2020 (initially planned in May) for 1-4 September 2020.

International Strawberry Symposium, postponed until 2021

The event dedicated to the strawberry supply chain, which was due to be held in the first week of May, has been postponed to next year. Due to the developing of health situation caused by the spread of the COVIS-19 virus, the organisational secretariat AIM Group International has decided, in agreement with the Symposium's promoters, to postpone the event to 2021.

Italian apples reach Vietnam with the first VOG Consortium shipment

A historic milestone for the Italian apple market. On Thursday 5 March VOG, the South Tyrolean Consortium with almost 5,000 member producers in the region, farming an area of 10,900 hectares, shipped a container of apples to Vietnam for the very first time. In an unprecedented move, the 8 tonnes of apples, will be distributed through the Asian country's biggest retail circuits.
