A rich programme for the return of the European Chestnut Days
5 September 2021
The stakeholders of the European chestnut sector will be able to meet again and exchange ideas during the 11th European Chestnut Days Eurocastanea*, organised in the New-Aquitaine region and online. The event will be divided in two parts: face-to-face meetings to be held on 1st and 2nd October 2021 in France (in Corrèze and Haute-Vienne), then on 21st and 22nd October online with an international webinar.
On 1st October, technical visits will be organised to chestnut orchards: agroforestry, harvesting sites, high density management, post-harvest sorting equipment and more will be on the agenda. The next day, on October 2nd, participants will visit the sorting station of a producer organisation. They will then be taken to the "Tech-Châtaigne" trade fair in St-Yrieix-La- Perche. This trade fair, organised since 2015, is entirely dedicated to castaneiculture. These two days will be an opportunity to receive a delegation of European producers. Indeed, it is the richness and quality of the exchanges between international professionals that make these European Days a success every year. The second part of the event, will be open to an even wider international audience with a webinar organised on the mornings of 21st and 22nd October. It will reveal the chestnut harvest forecast figures of the main producing countries in Europe, followed by a round table on trade, market trends and consumption. Chestnut trees diseases and pest management will also be discussed.
