agrofood & plastprintpack West Africa is finally back in Abidjan

Exhibitors from 13 countries have already registeredCôte d'Ivoire is the second largest investor in food, packaging and plastics technologies in West AfricaAfter the great success of agrofood & plastprintpack West Africa in Abidjan in 2018 and a long Covid-related break, German organiser fairtrade Messe and their local Ivorian partners 2A are nowreturning to Côte d'Ivoire and Francophone West Africa with agrofood & plastprintpack West Africa 2024.
In 2018, the event was attended by 1,461 trade visitors discussing their investments with 80 exhibitors from17 countries, and over 50 speakers from around the world enriched the high-level conferences.This year, the exhibition and conference will take place at the brand-new Parc des Expositions in Abidjanfrom 08 to 10 October 2024.
By August 2024, exhibitors from 13 countries had already registered for the 2024 edition, namely fromAlgeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Nigeria, South Africa, Taiwan, Türkiye andthe United Arab Emirates.
fairtrade and APECI are launching a partnership: Afrik'Embal will be held in parallel with agrofood &plastprintpack West Africa 2024.For the 2024 edition and beyond, fairtrade and the Association des Professionnels de l'Emballage en Côted'Ivoire APECI have entered a collaborative alliance. This synergistic partnership involves APECIorchestrating the Afrik'Embal trade fair in conjunction with fairtrade's agrofood & plastprintpack WestAfrica 2024. The aim of this partnership is to create valuable synergies for the benefit of exhibitors andtrade visitors.

Food and packaging technology: With imports of €93 million in 2022, Côte d'Ivoire is the secondlargestinvestor in food and packaging technology in West Africa, after Nigeria. Food trade with Côte d'Ivoire: With a trade volume of 11.3 billion dollars, Côte d'Ivoire is the largestfood market in West Africa, ahead of Nigeria with 8.9 billion dollars. According to the World TradeOrganisation (WTO), Côte d'Ivoire imported foodstuffs worth USD 3.1 billion and exported foodstuffsworth USD 8.2 billion in 2021. Food trade with Côte d'Ivoire is therefore worth USD 11.3 billion.The plastprintpack sector offers major business opportunities.

Plastics technology: Côte d'Ivoire's imports of plastics technology have risen from €31 million in2019 to €51 million in 2022. As such, Cote d'Ivoire represents the second largest investor in plasticstechnology in West Africa after Nigeria. West African imports of plastics technology have more thandoubled in recent years, rising from €144 million in 2016 to €296 million in 2022, representingaverage annual growth of 12.8%. The main West African import markets for plastics technology - inaddition to Nigeria - are, in this order, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal, Togo, Guinea and Mali (VDMA).

Printing and paper technology: From €93 million in 2017 to €146 million in 2022: West African importsof printing and paper converting technology show an annual increase of 9.4%. (VDMA)
