BIOFRUIT CONGRESS will discuss the future of the eco-friendly markets as part of Fruit Attraction2018

The first European Congress on organic fruits and vegetables, BIOFRUIT CONGRESS, organised by Eurofresh Distribution and Fruit Attraction, will be held as part of ORGANIC HUB next 24 October in the FRUIT FORUM located in Hall 6 of Feria de Madrid.
The fresh organic produce markets face new challenges and opportunities with the launch of the new European regulations and a renewed 2-digit growth in consumption. Renowned experts and leading distributors will analyse the latest data and trends in organic fruits and vegetables and beyond, with other "value chains". 
During the work day current topics will be approached, divided into three blocks: The first will revolve around world trends and impacts of the new regulations, a session which will include discussions on The new EU regulations on organic products: what will their future impact on the market and for producers be ? More democratic or restrictive?, by Elena Panichi, Deputy Director of Unit B.4 Organic Products, European Commission; World and EU demand for organic products: perspectives, by Julia Lernoud of FIBL & IFOAM-Organics International; Market trends and opportunities with the retail sector, specialised channels and emerging countries, by Pierre Escodo, editor of the journal Eurofresh Distribution, and Certification and regulatory diversity in a global market: how to unify audit criteria, reduce unfair competition and explore business opportunities, given by Juan Manuel Sánchez Adame, Certification Director of the CAAE.

The second block will focus on the Retail panel, where the main consumers are located, what the future demands, and will host the following conferences: Analysis of the Consumers and Retailers Panel, in-depth market trends, by Ed Griffiths, analyst at Kantar Analyst ; Germany and Switzerland, the main consumers; how to improve segmentation and brand, by José Tienda, Director of Rewe Group/Campiña Verde , and Germany and Switzerland, the main consumers; how to improve segmentation and brand, by Katja Bahrdt, Quality Manager of the Coop Group.

Finally, the third block will discuss the The demand for more "added value" beyond organic products, such as trade that is fair, biodynamic, local, carbon neutral …, the experience of specialised suppliers, such as Eosta, LaVieClaire or Naturland.

BIOFRUIT CONGRESS will be held on Wednesday 24 October from 16:00 to 19:00, in the FRUIT FORUM located in Hall 6 of Fruit Attraction.

Fruit Attraction expects the attendance of over 1,600 exhibiting companies and 70,000 professional participants from 120 countries.

The European Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR), adopted by the European Parliament on April 24th, significantly impacts the fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain, particularly where it bans the use of plastic packaging. European fresh fruit and vegetables are already sold loose 50% of the time, and the plastic packaging used in this sector represents only 1.5% of all food packaging. »
