MOLDOVA: a growing success

5 October 2024

Moldova will present all its products at the Show. In 2023, it became the first exporter of plums to the European Union; and the export of cherries to the EU has increased 12-fold compared to previous years. Moldova is the perfect example of how agriculture can drive trade growth. Over the past decade, the country has undergone a remarkable transformation, thanks to major investments in the fruit sector. With advanced super-intensive orchards, grading lines and modern refrigeration facilities.

Moldova is now a leader in fruit exports.

One of Moldova's greatest achievements is its ability to redirect exports from the Eurasian Economic Union to the European Union, especially of high-demand products such as plums, apricots, cherries and grapes. The results speak for themselves:

- In 2023, Moldova became the first exporter of plums to the European Union;

- The export of cherries to the EU increased 12-fold compared to previous years.

And the success story does not end there. Moldovan fruit producers pay attention to quality, volume and taste standards, and these efforts position the country as a major player in the global fruit trade.
