Technology and innovation in the field: Macfrut's latest challenge

8 May 2017

Technology and innovation will be the main themes of Macfrut in the Field (Macfrut in Campo), an event featuring field demonstrations of precision horticulture 2.0 machines and equipment.

It will be a major opportunity to see the most advanced mechanical solutions in action - for soil processing, sowing and transplanting - aimed at improving productivity, optimising production costs and reducing environmental impact.

The field tests are a dynamic addition to the programme of Macfrut, the international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector, now in its 34th edition to be held at the Rimini Expo Centre from 10 to 12 May.

Nine companies will take part in the field tests held during the three-day trade fair: Cosmeco, Forigo Roter, Ferrari costruzioni meccaniche, Pattaro Garford, Oliver di Signorini, Kult Kress Umweltschonende Landtechnik, Officine Mingozzi and Bassi seminatrici.

The goal of Macfrut in the Field (Macfrut in Campo) is to give an audience of farmers and economic traders the chance to see in action the various mechanical technology solutions currently available on the market in order to test their efficiency and features.

During the three-day event, in an area covering more than 700 sq. m. inside Hall B 7 at the Rimini Expo Centre, the following activities will alternate from 11am to 1pm: soil preparation for salad growing and transplanting; soil preparation for strawberry growing and related mulching operations; soil preparation for sowing; processing planted salads.

The field tests will be filmed from above by a giant airship drone.
