World Citrus Organisation will host second edition of the Global Citrus Congress

The World Citrus Organisation (WCO) is announcing the second edition of the Global Citrus Congress, which will take place on 16-17 November 2021 on a new 24 hour format online. Following the success of its first edition with over 1200 delegates from over 60 countries, the Global Citrus Congress will bring together again the citrus community to discuss the new challenges and opportunities the COVID-19 pandemic has brought for the citrus sector around the globe.

At Macfrut 2021, the fruit and vegetable supply chain will gather in person

After a year and a half of virtual relations, the sector will finally gather again at Macfrut, from 7 to 9 September in Rimini. A Covid-Free trade fair open to exhibitors and visitors. New features: the celebrations for the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables and numerous industry focus sessions. There will be 11 exhibition sectors representing the entire fruit and vegetable supply chain, making Macfrut an unprecedented event in the trade fair industry.

TOMACHOC®, the Top Seeds International chocolate tomato range

Top Seeds International introduces its Tomachoc®brand, a line of versatile chocolate-coloured tomatoes with original shapes and a hint of umami. Chocolate tomatoes are known for their unique sensory characteristics: a high content of an-thocyanins, natural plant-based pigments that give the tomatoes their dark colour, belonging to the class of flavonoids and characterised by strong antioxidant properties; a higher average content of vitamin C than other tomato varieties and potassium, which has a beneficial effect on blood pressure.

Asparagus in the spotlight at Macfrut 2021

Globally, market prospects for asparagus are promising. After a period of overproduction in the 2000s due to the fact that the target of 300,000 hectares cultivated was exceeded, the cultivated area has decreased and is now about 215,000 hectares. However, it is not sufficient to meet global demand for white and green asparagus. Projections suggest that an area of between 270,000 and 280,000 hectares would be needed to meet global asparagus demand. The world’s largest producer is China, followed by Mexico and Peru.

PROGNOSFRUIT 2021 Online Conference – registrations now open

The Prognosfruit Conference is Europe’s leading annual event for the apple and pear sector, gathering apple and pear growers from across Europe. Following the success of the online version of the event in 2021 and to comply with the current COVID-19 restrictions, Prognosfruit 2021 will be taking place as an online conference on 5 August 2021. The resource booklet with the forecast of production for apples and pears will be released during the online Zoom conference.

International Fair Agro-Food & Packaging

Agro-Pack Expo the international exhibition of agri-food and packaging industry will be held from 27th to 30th of septembre 2021 in the new exhibition center « Abdellatif Rahel » C.I.C of Algiers ; the first in Algeria, an economic Hybrid event through the two versions , physical and virtual, a meeting point between professionals and agri-food industry actors, national and international, in order to fulfill the needs of the mentioned industry especially during the worldwide health crisis.

COEXPAN has passed the BRC audit at its plants in Spain, Italy and France

COEXPAN has passed the BCR Packaging Materials audit at several of its plants worldwide, confirming the Group's commitment to manufacture safe products that comply with the most stringent packaging requirements. The Group's plants located in Alcalá de Henares (Spain), Montonate (Italy), Beaucouzé and Roye (France) have obtained grade "A" and "AA" BRC ratings that represent a magnificent achievement for each plant and are an acknowledgement the excellence of its employees.

SHAFFE has founded an ad-hoc taskforce on sustainability to identify common challenges

Marlene® Roadshow: art takes to the streets

The finalist works of the art contest organised for Marlene®’s 25th anniversary have been featured in art exhibitions in squares and shopping centres in Italy and abroad. The initiatives organised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Marlene® apples are continuing with the finalists of the digital contest launched last autumn. From April to June, a number of squares and shopping centre galleries have been transformed into art exhibitions in Italy, Spain and Norway.
