Countdown to the second edition of Mac Fruit Attraction Cairo

10 April 2017
Everything is ready to go for the second edition of Mac Fruit Attraction Mena, the global brand for the fruit and vegetable sector. The trade show will take place from 22 to 24 April in Cairo with 88 exhibitors, as part of FoodAfrica, and will attract more than 250 companies from 23 countries.
A total of 88 companies from Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Nigeria, and Egypt, will participate in the second edition of Mac Fruit Attraction Mena, including Spanish companies Agritech Murcia; Agrofresh; Alquimia Fruits; Centrimerca; Copa Fresh; Fru&Ver; Frutas Gamero and Moyca, all of which will benefit from direct access to new strategic markets, enabling them to contact local operators and those from the area of influence.

Many of the visitors to Mac Fruit Attraction Mena come from Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, countries to which the exports of fruit and vegetables from Spain have increased considerably.

The United Arab Emirates has become the second-largest export market for fresh fruits and vegetables to non-European countries, with 67.1 million euros in 2016, 6% more than in 2015, with growth of 8% in volume, totalling 64,286 tons.  Shipments to Saudi Arabia were worth 48.3 million euros, that is 10% more, with a volume of 45,961 tons (+13%). Exports to Jordan in 2016 totalled 10,355 tons, 66% more than in 2015, with a value of 7.6 million euros, the same as in the previous year, according to data from the Department of Customs and Special Taxes of the Ministry of Economy, processed by FEPEX.

Therefore, Mac Fruit Attraction Mena, organised by IFEMA, Cesena Fiera and IFP, will help to open new markets and create opportunities for Spanish suppliers. Among other initiatives, it will provide participants with a vigorous international buyers’ programme comprising 400 trade attendees from the purchasing and distribution chain from more than 50 countries, with high decision-making powers in their companies and the authority to do business at the trade fair. This action will enable exhibitors to make appointments with guest buyers before the fair starts.

The second edition of Mac Fruit Attraction will be held in the framework of FoodAfrica, one of the most important food fairs in Africa and it will also coincide with Africa Food Manufacturing, which will focus on machinery and solutions of labelling and packaging, equipment for treating and processing food, as well as logistics and storage.
