The 3rd International Food&Drinks Exhibition WorldFood Warsaw

On 19-21 April the 3rd edition of the International Food&Drink Exhibition WorldFood Warsaw is being held at EXPO XXI Warsaw. The event is organised under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Agriculture  and Rural Development, Krzysztof Jurgiel and the President of the Agricultural Market Agency, Łukasz Hołubowski.
Warsaw has become a veritable capital of international food business owing to the opening of the International Food&Drinks Exhibition WorldFood Warsaw. The exhibition is attended by 250 companies from 25 countries, as well as many visitors and experts from the sector.
“The competition in the global food market is high. I am glad that Warsaw hosts an event where representatives of the food industry can meet.  I hope that thanks to this initiative even more Polish products – tasty, valuable and organic, will appear on the European tables” – said Zbigniew Babalski, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, opening the 3rd edition of the International Food&Drinks Exhibition WorldFood Warsaw.
Yet again, over several days in April, Warsaw becomes the capital of the international food business.   The WorldFood Warsaw Exhibition is not just 250 exhibitors, but also many foreign delegations (e.g. from Belgium or India), Polish and foreign experts, representatives of the food sector, trade, HoReCa and the media.
The opening ceremony was attended by: Zbigniew Babalski, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski, MEP, Łukasz Hołubowski, President of the Agricultural Market Agency and the organisers: Agnieszka Szpaderska, Exhibition Director and Anatoly Sushton – Director of the Food and Packaging Sector at the ITE Group.  The ceremony was also attended by: Stanisław Kowalczyk, Chief Agricultural and Food Quality Inspector, representatives of sector organisations and institutions and journalists.
”The success of previous editions of WorldFood Warsaw confirms that Poland is an attractive partner of international food business” – stressed Agnieszka Szpaderska, Exhibition Director.   
”Whenever we think about food, the saying ‘you are what you eat’ comes to mind. Polish food producers put emphasis on high quality, traditional and organic production methods, and our food is particularly tasty.
The strength of the Polish agri-food sector is attested by the constantly improving export results.
In 2015, foreign trade in food increased by 8% compared with the preceding year, reaching EUR 23.6 billion.  We expect this indices to increase from year to year” – stressed Łukasz Hołubowski, President of the Agricultural Market Agency.
The growing export potential of the global agri-food sector was also addressed by Czesław Siekierski, MEP.   “Since 2000, the export potential in the world has increased significantly. The importance of international food companies is also growing. During this time food prices have fallen, and forecasts speak of further reductions.”
This year’s edition of WorldFood Warsaw provided a platform for many high level business meetings. The exhibition was visited by a record number of visitors and numerous representatives of retail chains, including E-Leclerc, Auchan, Jeronimo Martins, Carrefour and many more. In addition, exhibitor’s stands were crowded with buyers from the HoReCa sector.

The event was attended by many representatives of the food sector – companies, institutions, sector organisations. The guests of honour was representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Agricultural Market Agency.  Czesław Siekierski, MEP, was also participated in the Exhibition.  Anna Kalata, former labour and social policy minister, visited the Exhibition with a delegation from India interested in establishing co-operation with Polish food companies.  
The event was visited by numerous representatives of organisations from the agri-food sector, many sector experts, presidents and owners of food companies.
Gold Medals 2016

Every year, the WorldFood Warsaw Exhibition is accompanied by a competition for the prestigious Gold Medal. Its aim is to promote the best products presented during the event.  A professional jury comprising industry representatives evaluates the content of products (including the raw materials used in production, their origin and production technology), certificates, packaging and labelling and the marketing concept and distribution method.

Packaging: Plastic packaging for fruit and vegetables, a necessity for the supply chain.The PPWR, an unworkable regulation

The European Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR), adopted by the European Parliament on April 24th, significantly impacts the fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain, particularly where it bans the use of plastic packaging. European fresh fruit and vegetables are already sold loose 50% of the time, and the plastic packaging used in this sector represents only 1.5% of all food packaging. »

Fi Europe gears up for its best edition yet
