The first edition in 2020 is dedicated to varietal innovation. The apple world is looking towards the future: Fiera Bolzano is currently working on the first edition of the Interpoma Award, an award for projects that have contributed in a special way to the development of the apple industry.

Arrigoni supports producers with online training courses

In response to current precautionary measures, Arrigoni Group's training and information activity does not stop but is richer now with a new digital tool. The Arrigoni Group is committed to finding a safe solution to continue supporting and assisting Italian and international agricultural producers, even in this moment of restricted mobility. In view of the global spread of COVID 19, and after intensive consultation and communication with the industry and partners, we will postpone SIAL India 2020 to December 3rd – 5th 2020, at Pragati Maidan. For us at SIAL the health and safety of our exhibitors and visitors is our priority therefore, as the organizer we have decided to postpone SIAL India 2020 to December2020. We are pleased to report that this decision is supported by both international and domestic exhibitors and partners.

Apples, trend after the lockdown

The VOG Consortium analyses large-scale distribution sales in March: trends in Europe reflect those seen in Italy. There is a rise in demand for pre-packaged product. A dash to buy in supplies followed by a downturn, and then a return to more or less normal. March 2020, with the start of the lockdown first in Italy and then, gradually, in many other European countries, coincided with a particularly turbulent period for the apple sector, with see-sawing demand on both the Italian and the export markets.

The VOG Consortium farmers in South Tyrol - Südtirol use candles and anti-frost systems to protect the harvest on freezing spring nights. A dazzling concentration of lights that illuminate the fields. This is the romantic sight, often immortalised on websites and the social media, that you could have observed on the last few nights in South Tyrol - Südtirol. In the apple orchards neatly arranged on the slopes and hills of this region, the fruit growers of the VOG Consortium employ anti-frost systems to warm up the flowering plants and protect them from the freezing temperatures of these spring nights.
