A dynamic area is the latest novelty at Cesena Fiera 16 and 17 October: field tests with state-of-the-art technology for white and green asparagus

11 October 2018

Four greenhouses in an area of around 5,000 square metres and 36 sessions including demonstrations and presentations spread over two days (Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 October). This will all take place at the International Asparagus Days, with a dynamic area opposite the Cesena Fiera exhibition centre where visitors will have the opportunity to see live demonstrations of cutting-edge field technology applied to white and green asparagus.

During the trade fair, six types of machines will be in operation on both afternoons (2 - 5 p.m.) to showcase the best technical equipment available in this market sector: soil preparation, raised beds, mulching, transplanting, weeding and treatments, and harvesting. They will be presented by nine leading companies in the global market: Bagioni, Cosmeco, Engels, Europlastic, Forigo, Idromeccanica Lucchini, Officine Mengozzi, Roberto Bosch and Zanarini.

As Renzo Piraccini, President of Cesena Fiera, explains, ‘Despite what we may think, the horticultural sector is one of the most dynamic sectors in the fruit and vegetable industry. During the three-day event dedicated to asparagus in Cesena there will be live greenhouse and open-field demonstrations to show how new technologies may open up new possibilities. Today, technology is what allows us to be competitive on an international scale.’

In addition to the dynamic area, the International Asparagus Days exhibition halls will host about 80 exhibitors from all over the world, with an extensive programme of conferences and, on Thursday 18 October, technical visits in Emilia-Romagna and Veneto.
