Ecuador is the partner country of FRUIT LOGISTICA 2020

Ecuador has been named as the official partner country of FRUIT LOGISTICA 2020 (5 - 7 February in Berlin). At the leading exhibition for the global fruit trade the Andean country will present Ecuador’s agricultural heritage to the world, placing itself as an international and versatile producer of premium and sustainable fresh fruit and vegetables. Between 2014 and 2018 Ecuador exported over USD 3.5 billion worth of fresh produce, mainly to Russia, the United States, Italy, Germany, Turkey and China.

Obeikan MDF exhibits for the first time at Expoalimentaria Perú

The Spanish MDF packaging company, Obeikan MDF, will be attending the forthcoming edition of Expoalimentaria Perú as an exhibitor. The biggest event for the food industry in Latin America, which takes place on 25-27 September in the Peruvian capital of Lima, puts an emphasis on the packaging sector in its different exhibition spaces. At this year’s edition, the packaging company Obeikan MDF is taking part for the first time with its own 24 square metre stand, E61-E62, in the Jockey Exhibition Centre.

Change to the top management of the VOG Consortium

There has been a changing of the guard in the management of VOG, the Consortium of South Tyrolean Fruit Growers’ Cooperatives, which brings together almost 5,000 members specialized in apple production. Today, 28 August 2019, at the “House of Apples” in Terlano, Gerhard Dichgans, who has been CEO of the VOG Consortium for 29 years, officially “passed the torch” to the new CEO, Walter Pardatscher.

VOG: VARIETY STRATEGY 2025

Over 1,800 hectares of investments in new varieties are planned in the course of the next five years. The Golden Delicious, Red Delicious and Braeburn areas will be reduced. Over 300 new hectares already in the transition phase will be dedicated to organic farming. Over 10,000 hectares of apple trees are cultivated by the almost 5,000 producers associated with the VOG Consortium. These farms, which are mostly family-run, have an average of a few hectares and their profitability is determined by their choice of variety.
