43,000 visitors at Macfrut

An extraordinary 35th edition of Macfrut, which attracted 43,000 visitors during the three-day trade fair (compared to 39,000 last year), has come to an end. This achievement was a long time in the making, since a turning point was made in 2015 by relocating it to Rimini, and was consolidated this year with a strong growth at international level: 25% of participants were foreign and came from all over the world.

The first container of Sweeki branded kiwis arrived from Chile in the port of Shenzhen, South-West China. The container, directed to the Chinese clients, is the first of the shipment plan of Origine Group for the Asian markets, that will continue for several weeks. “Sweeki kiwis – says Origine Group general manager, Alessandro Zampagna - will reach the markets of different Asian countries, where they will be sold until October, both loose and in clamshells, in small shops and supermarkets”.

Macfrut (Rimini, 9-11 may 2018) hosted the first edition of the Tropical Fruit Congress, the first and only European summit on mangoes and avocados. The fully booked Congress, which was divided into two sessions, featured about 20 speakers from all over the world to discuss the production, import/export and consumption of these two fruits. After the first day, which focused on marketing and quality, the second session turned the spotlight on production.
