The European Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR), adopted by the European Parliament on April 24th, significantly impacts the fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain, particularly where it bans the use of plastic packaging. European fresh fruit and vegetables are already sold loose 50% of the time, and the plastic packaging used in this sector represents only 1.5% of all food packaging.

Fi Europe gears up for its best edition yet

Fi Europe is gearing up for its biggest and best year ever. From 19-21 November 2024, Messe Frankfurt will host the leading global event for food and beverage ingredients. More than 1,500 exhibitors and a programme of expert presentations will showcase innovation, share insights and foster business relationships. Over 25,000 visitors from 135 countries are expected to attend and exhibitors will include ABF Ingredients Group, Azelis, Brenntag Holding GmbH, Cargill, Fonterra and Prinova.

Fruit Attraction 2024 achieves record figures with a 13% increase in trade visitors

Organised by IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX, with the presence of Andalusia as Guest Region, the Fair registered the participation of 2,201 exhibitors from 59 countries, and an occupation of 70,254 net square metres of fruit and vegetable offer, for the first time, distributed over 10 halls of the trade fair centre, representing an increase of 10% in both parameters over the 2023 edition.

PROEXPORT companies to strengthen their commitment

In total, 37 of its member companies are exhibiting at the fair - most of them in Hall 7 - showing their firm commitment to constant improvement, investment in R&D&I and top service to supermarkets and processors. Prince de Bretagne is, since 1970, the collective brand of fresh fruit and vegetable growers from the northern coast of Brittany grouped in three cooperatives.

Le Vieux Pointet is presenting its products at the Salon. With its 400 hectares of orchards, the company is the largest independent producer of organic apples and pears in France. Le Vieux Pointet grows yellow apples such as Golden, Goldrush, Opal, Chantecler, red apples such as Gala, Elstar, Story, Red Delicious, Braeburn, Pink Rose, Crimson Crisp, Dalinette and green apples such as Granny Smith.

Fruit Attraction recognises innovation and entrepreneurship with the Innovation Hub Awards
