On the second day of the TSW Horticulture and Vegetable Fair, taking place on 23–24 January 2026 in Kielce, a dedicated Vegetable Conference entitled “The Future of Vegetable Processing” will be held. The event is addressed to vegetable producers, representatives of processing plants, advisors, and companies operating in the sector who want to better prepare for dynamic market, climate, and technological changes.
The conference will open with a presentation by Jakub Dobrosz, Editor-in-Chief of the Warzywa.pl portal, who will discuss “Current trends, price levels, and key risk factors in the vegetable processing market in Poland and the European Union.” This market overview will provide the foundation for further, more practical discussions.
The central point of the program will be the debate “Vegetables for processing from the perspective of processors and producers – needs, expectations, and development directions,” moderated by Dr. Eng. Aleksandra Czerwińska-Nowak, Editor-in-Chief of the leading industry magazines Warzywa and Szklarnie Tunele Osłony. The expert discussion will allow participants to examine the vegetable processing sector from both sides of the supply chain.
The debate will feature representatives of processing companies, including Maciej Wita from Jamar and Wojciech Krause from Greenyard. Representing Polish producers will be Cezary Olejniczak, Tomasz Skupin, and Mateusz Jarosz. Their many years of experience in vegetable production for processing purposes will form the basis for identifying needs, expectations, and future directions for the sector.
In the next part of the conference, participants will attend presentations focused on the practical aspects of vegetable production for processing. Dr. Eng. Emilia Zamojska (Agrosimex) will discuss the importance of quality and appropriate fertilization of tomatoes for both the fresh market and processing plants. Marcin Niedobylski, a recognized advisor in field vegetable production, will focus on tomato and pepper cultivation techniques in the context of changing climate and market conditions.
Challenges related to weather anomalies and production profitability will be addressed by Eng. Piotr Kotowski (Timac Agro Polska), who will highlight how to balance market requirements with the real capabilities of producers. Piotr Borczyński, MSc, from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Agricultural Advisory Centre in Minikowo, will present the most common mistakes in the cultivation of root and cabbage vegetables that may result in quality losses and the loss of processing contracts.
The conference will conclude with a presentation by Dorota Walczak (VitaFer) entitled “From soil to leaf: a comprehensive strategy to strengthen onion resistance to soil-borne diseases.” The presentation will showcase a modern, sustainable approach to disease prevention in onion cultivation, based on research and field experience, with a strong focus on biological methods and foliar fertilization.
The Vegetable Conference “The Future of Vegetable Processing” is an important substantive element of the TSW 2026 program and directly addresses the real needs of the vegetable sector in the context of market changes, climate challenges, and increasing quality requirements.
