Giving startups a boost

8 December 2017

On 24 January 2018 at the Professional Center at the International Green Week Berlin (19 – 28 Jan.) the focus will be on food industry startups. For the first time at the world's leading consumer exhibition for agriculture, the food industry and horticulture Messe Berlin will be organising a Startup Day at the Marshall Haus on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Pitching sessions will give selected startups an opportunity to present their business models and products and make a good impression on the jury.

“New companies are a source of innovative and unexpected ideas. By staging the Green Week Startup Day we aim to give those food industry startups with the most interesting and original ideas a platform, as well as a boost and help in order to create outstanding business models“, is how Lars Jaeger, project manager of the Green Week, described the new event format. As the venue for Startup Day presentations the Professional Center is reserved exclusively for trade visitors, exhibitors and the press.

By taking part in the Startup Day food industry startups, regardless of their development phase, can meet decision-makers from the food retail sector, other experts and opinion-formers as well as investors, project and sales partners. They can also benefit from the wide media attention the fair attracts. After examining the entries Messe Berlin will pick the startups to give presentations at the Green Week Startup Day. Making up the jury will be representatives of the retail sector, food industry experts as well as members of companies supporting startups, among them Markus Reh (Edeka Minden) and Dr. Christian Bock (Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank).

The deadline for submissions is 7 January 2018
