A dynamic area is the latest novelty at Cesena Fiera 16 and 17 October: field tests with state-of-the-art technology for white and green asparagus

Four greenhouses in an area of around 5,000 square metres and 36 sessions including demonstrations and presentations spread over two days (Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 October). This will all take place at the International Asparagus Days, with a dynamic area opposite the Cesena Fiera exhibition centre where visitors will have the opportunity to see live demonstrations of cutting-edge field technology applied to white and green asparagus.

Piedmont to be the Partner Region of Macfrut 2019

Renowned for its red apples, Piedmont - a region in Northern Italy - will be the Partner Region of the next edition of Macfrut, to be held in Rimini from 8 to 10 May 2019. For several years now, the Piedmont Region has been participating in Macfrut, the international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector. During the 2018 edition, a strategic agreement was signed between the trade fair, Assortofrutta and AOP Piemonte - respectively, the association and consortium comprising the sector’s main producer organisations in Piedmont - and the members of the Cuneo Red Apple PGI control system.

International Asparagus Days, conference programme finalised

With less than a month before the start of the International Asparagus Days, the three-day event dedicated entirely to asparagus to be held in the renovated pavilions of Cesena Fiera from 16 to 18 October 2018, the organisers have finalised the side events programme. The meeting dedicated to asparagus will feature numerous side events: round tables, international presentations and guided visits to leading Italian asparagus producers. The conference programme will begin on the first day, in the morning, with a round table on the “Global situation and evolution of asparagus”.

Fruit Attraction 2018 announces the Tapas Verdes contest for non-professional chefs

Fruit Attraction is launching the Tapas Verdes (#TapasVerdesFA) competition via its social media. The competition is aimed at the general public (not professionals), who will have the opportunity to demonstrate their culinary skills by creating a tapa made with fruit and vegetables. The participants will be able to present their fruit- and vegetable-based creations via social networks Instagram and Twitter, and the finalists will prepare their dish at the fair. The deadline to participate in the Tapas Verdes competition is 10th October.

Fruit Attraction 2018 announces the ACCELERA Awards for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which have become a key event in support of the sector's commitmentto entrepreneurship. As part of Fruit Attraction's CSR dimension, the awards will go to the exhibiting companies that present the best product or service project for the fruit and vegetable industry based on criteria relating to innovation, sustainability, applied technology and knowledge. In order to be eligible to apply, the company must be an exhibitor or co-exhibitor at Fruit Attraction 2018, and the innovative product must have been on the market since 1 September 2017.

Biobest receives the prestigious Export Lion 2018 award

Biobest Group was voted as winner of the Export Lion 2018. Flemish Minister-President Geert Bourgeois awarded the prestigious prize to Jean-Marc Vandoorne, Biobest Group CEO, at the closing event in Antwerp. Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), the Flemish Agency for International Business, has been awarding this distinction for 17 years to two Flemish companies achieving exceptional export performance. Biobest received the award in the category of companies with more than 50 employees. The award stresses the enormous importance of export for the Flemish economy and puts the winner in the spotlight both nationally and internationally.

Interpoma Technology Award 2018, still a few days left to submit your innovation

The deadline for submitting nominations for the first Interpoma Technology Award has been postponed to September 30, 2018. The Award is organized on occasion of Interpoma (November 15-17, 2018) by Fiera Bolzano in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Free University of Bolzano and SOI (Società di Ortoflorofrutticoltura Italiana). Nominations for the Award are free of charge and are restricted to companies exhibiting at the event whose products include technology and machinery innovations in the Field and Post Harvest categories.

CIV at Asia Fruit Logistica: new successful apple, pear and strawberry varieties

CIV – Consorzio Italiano Vivaisti [Italian Growers Consortium] in San Giuseppe di Comacchio is looking forward to the next trade fair, FRUIT ATTRACTION 2018 (Madrid, 23-25 October) where the Ferrara Consortium will attend for the first time with their own space. In outlining an analysis of the three-day event in Hong Kong, Pier Filippo Tagliani, President of CIV, says he’s very satisfied: “The China fair is the Asian landmark event dedicated to the fruit and vegetable sector, and constitutes a privileged access point to the Asian market, as well as an important forum for exchanging ideas and forging contacts with key international players”.
