Casablanca Hosts the 7th Edition of China Trade Week, a Key Platform for Sino-Moroccan Exchange
A Strategic Bridge Connecting Morocco, China, and Africa

The seventh edition of China Trade Week and inaugural edition China Morocco Smart Life officially opened on Wednesday, November 19, at the Casablanca International Fair – AMDIE, in the presence of high-level Moroccan and Chinese delegations.

The ceremony began with a welcome address by MIE Group, the organizer of the event. Its President, David Wang, emphasized that both exhibitions represents an important milestone in strengthening economic ties between Morocco and China. He recalled that China’s Ministry of Commerce considers Morocco one of the world’s most promising markets and a strategic gateway to both Africa and Europe.

In his remarks, Zheng Wei, Counselor at the Embassy of China in Morocco, highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two nations. He noted that since Morocco joined the Belt and Road Initiative in 2016, bilateral cooperation has grown rapidly, with China becoming Morocco’s leading trading partner. In November 2024, President Xi Jinping and His Majesty King Mohammed VI exchanged congratulatory messages marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, opening a new chapter in the partnership.

According to the Chinese official, trade between the two countries reached USD 9.04 billion in 2021, an increase of 21.6% a historic record. This figure is expected to surpass USD 10 billion in 2025. Chinese investments in Morocco have also increased significantly, totaling USD 774 million in 2024. Tangier alone attracted nearly 40 Chinese companies operating in key sectors such as automotive, new energy, and textiles, including Zhongtai, BYD, CRRC, and Shanghai Electric.

Mehdi Iraqi, President of the Moroccan-Chinese Business Council within the CGEM, affirmed that China Trade Week reflects the shared commitment of both nations to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen partnerships. He noted that while investments currently flow mainly from China to Morocco, substantial opportunities also exist for Moroccan companies in the Chinese market. He highlighted the achievements of the Moroccan business community established in cities such as Shenzhen, Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, and Hubei, stressing the need to promote two-way investment, particularly in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and education.

Held from November 19 to 21, 2025, China Trade Week Morocco (CTW Morocco)  & China Morocco Smart Life are a multisectoral events that bring together economic players from several countries led by China, as part of an expanded cooperation framework with Africa The event offers a dedicated platform for business meetings, product and service showcases, and networking between industrial leaders, investors, suppliers, and decision-makers, thus contributing to the development of trade between Morocco, Africa, and global markets.

This seventh edition stands out for the scale of its exhibition space. The CTW + China Morocco Smart Life +AFS spans two halls covering a total of 10,000 square meters and features nearly 200 exhibiting companies from countries including China, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Italy, Ghana, Kenya, Egypt, and Malaysia.

The event generated significant interest, with nearly 12,000 pre-registered visitors and 5,263 attendees on opening day, underscoring the growing momentum of Sino-Moroccan and Afro-Asian economic cooperation.

It is worth noting that the seventh edition of China Trade Week in Casablanca is organized by the global company MIE and co-organized with China Morocco Smart Life.
