Grüne Woche 2024 transforms flower hall into "City of colours"
13 December 2023
The Flower Hall at the Grüne Woche gives exhibition guests in Berlin a sneak peek at spring.
Over 3,000 square meters of indoor space, four colours and more than 80,000 flowers, and (woody) plants: from 19 to 28 January 2024, the Flower Hall will invite visitors of the Grüne Woche in Hall 2.2a to the "City of colors". Under this motto, the Landgard growers' cooperative together with the "Flowers - 1000 good reasons" initiative will showcase the colorful power of the "world of flowers and plants " in the form of urban structures and creative photo spots.
Urban floral splendorA tunnel covered with plants leads the exhibition visitors into the flower hall and opens up the view to four vibrant color zones in yellow, red, violet and green, which flow into a joint flower bed in the center representing a symbolic city park. Around 85 scaffoldings, which form colored house facades of three to five meters in height, extend the height of the floral installations and serve as supports for early bloomers, houseplants, ferns, carnivores and hanging baskets. Over 100 woody plants and two waterfalls add to the urban greenery. Additional design elements such as plain-colored balcony pots or mailboxes complete the street look and guarantee eye-catching photo motifs.
"With the 'City of colors', we are bringing flowers and plants into our living spaces, both indoors and outdoors, in urban and rural environments. This provides us with a great opportunity to impress with an extremely colorful hall at the start of the year during a rather grey time due to the weather," says Michael Hermes, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Landgard, explaining the underlying concept of this year's Flower Hall.
Numerous hands-on activitiesVisitors to the exhibition will be able to take part in numerous daily activities such as competitions and other experiences in the Flower Hall. For example, the Flower Hall Café will be celebrating its debut. Here you can enjoy the ambience of the flower hall while enjoying drinks and snacks. If you want to capture the feeling of the "City of colors" before you go home, you can take creative souvenir photos at flowery photo spots.
Focus on sustainabilityThis year, the design of the Flower Hall and the choice of materials will focus on sustainability. Existing elements will be used for scaffolding and then reused after the exhibition. The soil used for the flower beds will be separated and repurposed after the Grüne Woche closes. And, as in previous years, most of the (woody) plants will provide color and naturalness elsewhere after their appearance in the "City of colors".
