 Market Outlook

Libya’s food and beverage sector is expanding rapidly. Domestic demand for processed and staple foods—especially pasta, cereals, and dairy products—has risen sharply, driven by population growth and shifting consumption patterns.

In 2024, the Libyan food market reached USD 6 billion, with food imports valued at around USD 3.7 billion. Major suppliers include Turkey, Europe, Egypt, Tunisia, and Thailand, while India exported USD 246 million worth of food products to Libya, including confectionery, coffee, tea, dairy, spices, beverages, rice, cereals, edible oils, fruits, vegetables, and meat.

Libya’s food sector continues to offer substantial potential for both regional and international exporters, as the country relies heavily on imports to satisfy domestic demand.
