Agrofood East Africa 2026: Addis Ababa to host a key meeting point for the food, beverage, processing and packaging industries
From 14 to 16 August 2026, the Addis International Convention Centre in Addis Ababa will host Agrofood East Africa 2026, an event dedicated to the agrofood, beverage, processing, and packaging sectors. The exhibition will be an important meeting platform for international manufacturers, suppliers, and professionals interested in the rapidly expanding agri-food market of East Africa.
The event is designed to support the development of business relations between Ethiopia, the wider East African region, and international markets. It will cover sectors related to agribusiness, food processing technologies, packaging equipment, and FMCG products, creating opportunities for companies seeking new sales channels and partnerships in one of the region’s most promising markets.
The significance of the exhibition is reinforced by Ethiopia’s current market conditions. The country remains one of the largest food markets in Africa and imports significant quantities of food products, especially wheat, pulses, and cooking oil. The value of Ethiopia’s food imports reached USD 2.36 billion in 2025, with key suppliers including India, the USA, Turkey, the UAE, and Egypt. At the same time, Ethiopia is one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, with agriculture contributing around 35% of GDP and employing more than 65% of the population.
The country has strong production potential in areas such as coffee, pulses, oilseeds, cereals, fruits, and livestock, yet only a small share of agricultural commodities is processed domestically. The Ethiopian government is promoting the expansion of food and beverage manufacturing capacity through agro-industrial zones, export promotion, and investment incentives, creating additional opportunities for technology suppliers and manufacturers.
Agrofood East Africa 2026 will bring together more than 100 exhibitors, over 5,000 visitors, and participants from more than 8 countries. The exhibition profile will cover a broad range of products and solutions, including rice, grains, cereals, spices, sauces, water, beverages, juices, tea, coffee, dairy products, ice cream, fresh fruits and vegetables, canned and chilled food, seafood, confectionery, bakery products, ready-to-eat foods, fats and oil seeds, bio and organic products, meat, poultry, energy drinks, honey, frozen food, as well as food processing technologies, packaging, filling, labelling, printing systems, packaging lines, conveyors, materials, bottling plants, bakery equipment, carton boxes, corrugated boxes, and sealing machines.
Agrofood East Africa 2026 is an important meeting place for manufacturers, importers, distributors, technology providers, and processing companies looking to grow their presence in Ethiopia and across East Africa. For the industry, it will be an opportunity to assess the market, identify new partners, and build trade relationships in a sector with strong growth potential.
