Agrofood East Africa 2026: Addis Ababa to host a key meeting point for the food, beverage, processing and packaging industries
From 14 to 16 August 2026, the Addis International Convention Centre in Addis Ababa will host Agrofood East Africa 2026, an event dedicated to the food, beverage, processing, and packaging sectors. The exhibition will be an important meeting platform for international manufacturers, suppliers, and professionals from agriculture, food processing, packaging, and beverages who are looking to expand in East Africa’s rapidly growing agrofood market.
The event is designed to support the development of business relations between Ethiopia, the wider East African region, and international markets, responding to the needs of growing sectors such as agribusiness, food processing technology, packaging equipment, and FMCG. Organisers highlight that the exhibition will create opportunities to identify new sales prospects and partnerships in one of the region’s most promising markets.
The importance of the event is reinforced by Ethiopia’s economic profile. The country remains one of the largest food markets on the African continent and continues to import significant volumes of food products, especially wheat, pulses, and cooking oil. In 2025, Ethiopia’s total food imports reached USD 2.36 billion, with key suppliers including India, the USA, Turkey, the UAE, and Egypt. At the same time, Ethiopia is one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, with agriculture contributing around 35% of GDP and employing more than 65% of the population.
The country has strong production potential in areas such as coffee, pulses, oilseeds, cereals, fruits, and livestock, yet only a small share of agricultural commodities is processed domestically. The government is supporting the expansion of the food and beverage manufacturing sector through policies promoting agro-industrial zones, exports, and investment incentives, creating additional opportunities for technology providers and manufacturers.
Agrofood East Africa 2026 will bring together more than 100 exhibitors, over 5,000 visitors, and participants from more than 8 countries. The exhibition profile will cover a broad range of products and solutions, including rice, grains, spices, sauces, mineral and flavoured water, beverages, juices, tea, coffee, dairy products, ice cream, fresh fruits and vegetables, canned and chilled foods, seafood, confectionery, bakery products, ready-to-eat foods, jams, bio and organic food products, meat, poultry, energy drinks, frozen foods, as well as food processing, packaging, filling, labelling and printing technologies, packaging lines, conveyors, bottling plants, bakery equipment, carton boxes, corrugated boxes, and sealing and labelling machines.
Agrofood East Africa 2026 is an important meeting place for manufacturers, importers, distributors, technology suppliers, and processing companies looking to strengthen their presence in Ethiopia and across East Africa. For the industry, it will be an opportunity to explore the market, build trade relationships, and present solutions that respond to the growing needs of the food and beverage sector.
