VOG organic apples at BIOFACH, positive expectations for the start of 2023

16 February 2023
With its wide assortment of varieties and brands, the Consortium has the right apple for every need 12 months a year. The season has kicked off for the organic versions of Cosmic Crisp®, RedPop® and Giga®, three latest-generation apples already popular with many consumers.

Wide-ranging, high-quality and available for 12 months a year: the VOG Consortium’s assortment of organic apples was on show from 14 to 17 February at BIOFACH, the leading trade fair for the organic sector in Nuremberg.

With organic production of 30,000 tonnes in South Tyrol - Südtirol and the expertise of the many people who take care of the apples from the field to the point of sale, VOG has the best variety and packaging for every channel and every need in the industry. BIOFACH was an opportunity to meet organic professionals, just as the second part of the sales season opens with positive prospects.

“We had a difficult start to the season,” comments Werner Castiglioni, head of organic production at VOG. “Falling consumption and price pressure impacted the organic segment, as well as the rest of our production. Despite the critical situation, we have maintained our presence on the market and expect the season to continue positively, partly thanks to the completion of the assortment with innovative products appreciated by our customers.”

Starting in February, marketing of the organic versions of Giga®, RedPop® and Cosmic Crisp®, three latest-generation apples also suitable for organic cultivation, will begin. While Cosmic Crisp® will captivate consumers with its heavenly taste, RedPop® is the little big sweetness, a snack to always carry with you, and Giga® is the big, tasty apple, perfect for sharing.

VOG’s wide assortment includes its own brands Biosüdtirol and Bio Marlene® – the Daughter of the Alps, appreciated by many consumers around the world, as well as successful brands such as Pink Lady® Bio, Kanzi® Bio, Evelina Bio® and envy™ Bio, alongside particularly well-established exclusively organic brands such as Natyra®.

“BIOFACH is a great opportunity to network, talk to organic opinion leaders and share strategies and ideas with our trade partners,” explains Hannes Tauber, marketing manager at VOG. “As a recognised benchmark for apple category management, we want to play an increasingly active role in the organic discussion.”

Thanks to their quality and ability to meet customer demands, VOG organic apples are already present in more than 40 markets including Germany, Spain, Italy, UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Benelux, as well as outside Europe, in the Middle East and Asia.

The Consortium members’ organic production is certified by ABCERT, Bioland, Demeter and AIAB.
