Gastech 2026 in Bangkok to focus on energy security, LNG and low-carbon technologies

Gastech 2026 will take place in Bangkok from 14 to 17 September 2026, bringing together the global natural gas, LNG, low-carbon solutions, electrification and AI-for-energy sectors. This year’s edition comes at a particularly important moment for the industry, as markets respond to rising energy demand, geopolitical uncertainty and the need to build more secure, reliable and resilient energy systems.

Gastech 2026 will be the largest and only major energy exhibition and conference held in Asia since the beginning of the conflict in the Middle East. The event will bring together energy professionals from more than 150 countries, including leaders of global energy companies, public institutions, infrastructure operators, technology providers and investors.

Global energy leaders in one place

Companies and organisations represented in the programme will include Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, EGAT, PTT, ADNOC Gas, Baker Hughes and Petronet LNG. Their representatives will discuss some of the most important challenges facing the global energy market, including supply security, the role of LNG, energy transition, infrastructure development and technologies supporting lower emissions.

One of the key themes will be Asia’s growing role in shaping the global LNG market. Rising energy demand across the region is increasing the importance of long-term contracts, strategic partnerships and investment in new import, storage and transmission capacity.

Thailand as a regional energy hub

The programme will also feature an interview with H.E. Akanat Promphan, Thailand’s Minister of Energy, focusing on the country’s role in strengthening energy security in Asia and supporting regional cooperation.

Thailand’s importance as a regional energy hub will also be highlighted by Dr Narin Phoawanich, Governor of EGAT, who will discuss grid modernisation, cross-border connectivity, LNG and emerging technologies supporting a more sustainable energy system.

LNG, supply security and market resilience

Natural gas supply security will be one of the central themes of the conference. Dr Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, will address the impact of Middle East tensions on gas markets, the need for supply diversification and the next wave of LNG supply growth.

Another important topic will be rising electricity demand driven by data centres and artificial intelligence. In this context, natural gas is expected to continue playing an important role in providing stable and reliable power generation in many parts of the world.

Fatema Al Nuaimi, CEO of ADNOC Gas, will focus on changes in the LNG market and the shift from short-term transactions towards long-term commercial partnerships. Meanwhile, Dr Kongkrapan Intarajang, CEO and President of PTT, will discuss the role of LNG in helping ASEAN countries balance energy security, affordability and sustainability.

Low-carbon technologies and new infrastructure

Low-carbon solutions will also feature prominently throughout the event. Key topics will include carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, electrification and infrastructure supporting the development of lower-carbon energy systems.

Hans Neidig of ExxonMobil will discuss the role of LNG and low-carbon technologies in strengthening energy resilience, while Freeman Shaheen, President of Chevron Global Gas, will focus on scalable infrastructure, long-term investment and strategic partnerships.

Tom Summers, Executive Vice President of Shell LNG Marketing & Trading, will address the resilience of the LNG sector during periods of crisis and its role in meeting growing energy demand across Asia.
