BioAg Congress 2026: biological crop protection, biostimulants and artificial intelligence in focus

29 September 2026

BioAg Congress 2026 will take place on 11–12 November 2026 in Anaheim, California. The two-day conference will bring together manufacturers of biological agricultural inputs, technology companies, scientists, agronomists, advisers, regulators and investors.

The event will focus on the development of effective biological crop protection methods. Its programme covers biopesticides, biostimulants, plant growth-promoting microorganisms, natural enemies of agricultural pests, soil health, and the use of data and artificial intelligence in crop management.

From research to practical on-farm solutions

One of the main challenges facing the agricultural biologicals sector is translating research results into farming practice. A product that performs effectively under laboratory conditions may not produce the same results across different soils, weather conditions and production systems.

The BioAg Congress 2026 programme will therefore address formulation stability, application methods, microorganism storage and the integration of biological products into integrated pest management programmes. Speakers will present field trial results and implementation examples evaluating effects on yields, pest and disease pressure and production economics.

One session will examine products that activate induced systemic resistance in plants. Speakers will discuss their potential to protect crops against insect pests and fungal pathogens, including solutions applied at planting.

Biopesticides, microorganisms and natural enemies

A significant part of the conference will be dedicated to biological control methods involving bacteria, fungi, predators and parasitoids. Experts will examine the requirements for scaling these solutions, including species selection, release timing, habitat management and integration with other crop protection methods.

The programme also includes a presentation on using the predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii to control thrips, whiteflies and plant-feeding mites in pepper production. The research covers release strategies, supplementary feeding and compatibility with entomopathogenic fungi and other biological control agents.

Participants will also learn about methods for improving the reliability of microbial products through carefully selected co-formulants and adjuvants. These ingredients are intended to improve the viability, stability and effectiveness of bacteria and fungi used in crop protection.

Artificial intelligence and emerging biological technologies

BioAg Congress will demonstrate how artificial intelligence can accelerate the development of new crop protection products. One presentation will introduce a platform combining generative AI, machine learning and computational biology to develop peptides with antifungal properties.

The programme also covers mid-infrared spectroscopy, which can support the evaluation of biostimulant effects on soils and crops. Another session will examine microplastic-free wax emulsions for biological seed treatment systems.

The technologies will be assessed not only in terms of efficacy but also scalability, implementation costs, regulatory compliance and commercial readiness.

Soil health and crop resilience to climate change

Biological soil management under drought, extreme heat and water scarcity will be another important part of the conference. Case studies will include vegetable production in the desert regions of Southern California, rhizosphere microbiome management and the suppression of soilborne plant pathogens.

Research into methanotrophic microorganisms originating from desert environments will also be presented. Their potential applications include improving plant resilience to drought and heat stress in tomatoes, peppers, strawberries and perennial tree crops.

The programme will also cover practical experiences with regenerative agriculture, biochar, biofertilisers and small-scale anaerobic digestion systems producing biogas and biological fertilisers.

Regulation and commercialisation of biological products

The development of the biologicals sector depends not only on the effectiveness of new technologies but also on clear regulatory pathways. The conference will address the division of responsibilities between US federal institutions—EPA, USDA and FDA—and individual state authorities.

Experts will explain why regulatory strategy should be considered from the earliest stages of product development. This is particularly important for microbial products and biostimulants, whose classification and registration requirements may differ depending on their stated functions and claims.

The second day will also provide an investor’s perspective on agricultural biologicals. The discussion will cover business models, scalability, unit economics, the quality of performance data and the conditions companies must meet to attract investment.

Experts representing science and industry

The BioAg Congress 2026 speakers include representatives of PI AgSciences, NewLeaf Symbiotics, Invaio, Clariant, Michelman, University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources, Georgia State University, Meridian Agribusiness Advisors and Rincon-Vitova Insectaries.

The event is aimed at biopesticide and biostimulant manufacturers, crop protection specialists, agricultural microbiologists, soil health experts, agronomists, growers, technology companies, investors and professionals responsible for product regulation and registration.

The conference will be held at the Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort in Anaheim. The delegate package includes access to both conference days, selected presentation materials, networking activities, hosted lunches and an evening drinks reception. Registration is available through the event website.
