6 February 2023
The President Mauro Grossi: "CIV at the three days in Berlin to discover all the latest new varieties of our apple & strawberry breeding program. The 40th anniversary of our Consortium’s foundation at the end of this year."C.I.V. - Consorzio ItalianoVivaisti di San Giuseppe di Comacchio among the exhibitors in Berlin Fruit Logistica 2023 (08th -10th February) with its own exhibition space in Hall 2.2 Stand A20 to present the latest varieties of environmentally friendly apples, pears and strawberries.
CIV is present in the collective area “CSO ITALY, the Beauty of Quality" where, with a total of about 1,100 square meters, there will be over 40 companies present, among the most qualified and specialized in Italian fruit and vegetables. "The Berlin fair - explains the CIV President, Mauro Grossi - is a unique opportunity to meet/update with our European and international Partners and at the same time an important showcase for the latest CIV news. In the three-day exhibition we have many international contacts on our agenda for the development of our projects around the world".
"In particular, we will present the new apple variety CIVM65*/Desy®, developed by the European Exclusive Licensee Rajpol Sp. Z.o.o.. Its characteristics make it very interesting: bright red colouring very attractive, crunchy, juicy and sweet flesh. The plant is rustic, resistant and easy to manage agronomically, a true promise of apple growing. We will also present the latest findings (selections and/or varieties) from our different apple and strawberry breeding programs that we are committed to introducing and developing globally. Our work is truly global, we collaborate with the most important European and International public and private entities (e.g.: Canada, USA, New Zealand, Mexico, UK, etc.)".
"Despite the problematic international context - adds Mauro Grossi - in order to meet the requirements/needs of producers and consumers the CIV continues its activity of research and development on the medium-long term, thanks to its breeding program of apple and strawberry characterized by pillars such as natural rusticity, ease of cultivation, productivity, long storage and shelf-life, the high organoleptic characteristics of the fruits, the distinctive aesthetic appearance, adaptability to different pedoclimatic conditions (for conventional, integrated and organic production), resistance to the most important diseases and increasing environmental sustainability (for example, reduced water and nutritional needs). All factors that play a central role in the breeding programof CIVwhose - we remember - at the end of this year marks the fortieth anniversary of its own foundation."
"Those who come to visit us in Berlin - concludes the CIV President - will find a wide and complete proposal of varietal innovation of apple: from early to late varieties; red, green and/or yellow, bi-colours; eco-sustainable with a low environmental impact; resistant to scab and with excellent characteristics of long storage and excellent organoleptic quality, as required by the market. In the coming days you will also have the opportunity to learn about our latest strawberry news. We therefore invite all the operators of the sector to visit us numerous at our stand".See you all in Berlin at Stand A20 in Hall 2.2.
