The European initiative aims to support trade, investment and new partnerships between companies from the EU and Tanzania. Key areas of focus will include agriculture and agribusiness, critical minerals and digital innovation.
The European Union and Tanzania are developing the second edition of the EU–Tanzania Investment and Business Forum, a platform created to connect businesses, investors and institutions interested in strengthening trade and sustainable investment between Europe and Tanzania.
The initiative is part of the EU Business Fora and is supported by the EU–Africa Business Forum Facility, established by the European Commission.
Macfrut is also supporting the promotion of the initiative among agrifood companies, highlighting opportunities related to entering East African markets and developing commercial relationships with partners in Tanzania.
The first stage of the programme was the Online Information Session, held on 2 September 2026. The meeting introduced the Forum’s objectives, available investment opportunities and the next stages of the initiative.
The next step will be the European Roadshows, taking place between 28 September and 6 October 2026:
The meetings are designed to connect Tanzanian companies and institutional representatives directly with European businesses, investors and organisations supporting trade and investment.
The programme will include project presentations, sector-focused sessions and targeted matchmaking meetings.
The roadshow in Cesena on 1 October 2026 may be particularly relevant for companies operating in the fruit and vegetable industry and the wider agrifood sector.
The region has strong links with the European agrifood industry and horticultural technologies, making the meeting a potential platform for direct discussions between companies offering technologies, machinery, logistics solutions or food products and partners looking for investment and suppliers in Tanzania.
The EU–Tanzania Investment and Business Forum will focus on three high-potential sectors:
Renewable energy, transport and logistics have also been identified as cross-cutting enabling sectors, as they are essential for attracting investment and building competitive, sustainable value chains.
For the agrifood sector, this creates potential opportunities not only in food production and trade, but also in agricultural technologies, storage, cold-chain solutions, packaging, transport, processing and export-supporting infrastructure.
Direct matchmaking will be an important part of the initiative.
Companies will be able to prepare and schedule bilateral meetings in the following formats:
This means the initiative is intended to go beyond a traditional conference format and lead to concrete discussions on investment, commercial cooperation, financing and project implementation.
Participants will also be able to learn more about EU-supported financial instruments and initiatives that may help facilitate investments in Tanzania.
The European roadshows will serve as preparation for the main EU–Tanzania Investment and Business Forum, scheduled to take place in early 2027 in Dar es Salaam.
The Forum is expected to provide a direct platform for cooperation between the private sector, public authorities, investors and financial institutions from Europe and Tanzania.
For European companies – particularly those operating in agriculture, food processing, technology, logistics and infrastructure – the initiative may provide an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the Tanzanian market, identify investment projects and find local business partners.
