Italian Berry Day at Macfrut 2021
12 June 2021
Berries will be featured at Macfrut (7-9 September in Rimini). The Italian Berry Day, the biggest novelty of the 2021 edition of the international trade fair for the fresh produce industry, will be held on Wednesday, 8 September.
Promoted by Ncx Drahorad and ItalianBerry in collaboration with Cesena Fiera, the Italian Berry Day will include an international conference with the participation of key opinion leaders in the sector, plus a themed exhibition area at the main entrance of the event (South Hall).
The conference will bring together the entire supply chain and experiences will be shared by participants from the world’s main production and marketing areas: a meeting platform for nurserymen, producers, packers and large-scale retailers.
The market for berries is growing exponentially in Europe. As a result, over the course of a decade, the turnover has doubled to approximately €2 billion. In Italy, the estimated volume growth over the last year was between 15-20%.
‘We are proud of the fact that the leading event for the fresh produce industry in Italy is giving Italian blueberries, blackberries and raspberries the chance to present themselves,’ says Thomas Drahorad, President of NCX Drahorad. ‘The Italian Berry Day is intended to serve as an international showcase for the supply chain. The consumption of berries is rapidly increasing in Italy, which is why it is a particularly interesting market for international producers, who are able to effectively round out the seasonal offer and the availability of produce from Italy.’
‘Once again, Macfrut proves to be a trade fair packed with content, with a special focus on the main trends in the fruit and vegetable sector,’ explains Renzo Piraccini, President of Macfrut. ‘Berries have been attracting the interest of consumers all over the world for a long time now, since these products offer great health benefits and are also easy to consume. There is ample growth potential, but there are several critical issues as well: all these aspects will be discussed at this important event scheduled for 8 September.’
