Arrigoni at Macfrut and partner of the International Cherry Symposium 2022

22 April 2022
The Group from Como will take part in the Rimini event not only with its own stand at the show but also by exhibiting its agrotextiles in the test field and as a partner and consultant during the international congress

From 4 to 6 May this year Arrigoni will be exhibiting at the Macfrut international fruit & veg professional show on stand 013, in hall B5. As well as displaying its protective solutions in the orchards of the show’s test fields, the Como-based Group will be in the spotlight thanks to its platinum partnership with the International Cherry Symposium, the world’s top event for the cherry growing world, which this year will be held to coincide with the Rimini fair.

According to the latest FAO data, world cherry production is growing rapidly, expanding from 1.8 million to over 2.3 million tonnes within a twenty-year period. This trend is also reflected in an increase in cherry producing acreage, which has risen from 320,000 hectares at the end of the last century to over 400,000 hectares today. Hence the growing importance of this fruit for the farming industry, with new challenges to be faced in terms of production, as cherries are one of the most difficult and complex of all crops.

“For our company, Macfrut 2022,” explains Paolo Arrigoni, CEO of the Group of the same name, “will be a very special edition: for the first time, we will not only be there to support all fruit growers looking for safe, sustainable production methods, but have also decided to provide our consulting by participating in and supporting a key event, the International Cherry Symposium, dedicated to this extremely complex crop. We need only remember that until a few years ago many growers considered the use of organic methods for cherries to be impossible. Nowadays, thanks to our research, this is no longer a Utopian vision.”

As platinum sponsor of the International Cherry Symposium 2022, Arrigoni will have its own corner throughout the congress, to provide information to all interested players in the sector. A video on the Arrigoni products best suited to application in cherry orchards will also be shown at various times. Representatives of the Como-based Group will also be attending the evening gala on 4 May and will accompany the industry players through all the stages of the technical tour organised outside the show itself, with visits to a number of cherry orchards, in order to be on hand with specific advice and in-depth information.

Arrigoni will be exhibiting on stand 013 in hall B5, opposite the test field area. The company will also offer visitors the first-hand chance to assess the efficacy of the Protecta® and Protecta System® solutions on 4 rows of kiwi fruit and cherry orchard.

Protecta®, in particular, is a protective screen with a structure of carefully calibrated porosity which increases aeration and ventilation to enable faster elimination of moisture in the protected area. At the same time, the porosity and the installation system also ensure a high level of wind stability. The high-tenacity ARLENE HT® monofilament used for the manufacture of Protecta® guarantees durability three times that of normal plastic film and more effective water run-off. Combined with these benefits, the textile also ensures protection from hail, an optimal air flow and good light filtration. If Protecta® is connected with Arrigoni Biorete® anti-insect screens, on the other hand, the result is the extremely secure Protecta System®, an effective solution for preventing inspect pests – Drosophila Suzukii, etc. – from reaching crops and harming the fruit on the trees.
