PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt 2026 – European plant trade to meet in the Netherlands

The autumn edition of PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt 2026 will take place on 26–27 August 2026 at the International Trade Centre Hazerswoude/Boskoop in the Netherlands. The event is aimed at professional buyers from the garden plant sector, including garden centres, wholesalers, importers, retailers and purchasing professionals.

The format combines a traditional trade fair with direct commercial activity. At the same time, the GROEN-Direktplatform will present around 5,000 commercial lots from 500 growers, available for ordering.

Growers and buyers in one place

Exhibitors will present a broad range of garden plants for retail and wholesale. Participants include both large companies supplying retail chains and specialised nurseries.

According to the organisers, 73% of visitors are involved in the purchasing process, underlining the strongly commercial character of the event.

New varieties and Green Retail Awards

An important part of the programme will be the Green Retail Awards, presented in the categories Best Novelty, Best Market Innovation and Visitor’s Favourite.

Entries will be assessed on factors including ornamental value, market potential, quality, durability, logistics and their relevance to current trends such as drought resistance, heat tolerance and more sustainable production.

New products submitted for the 2026 edition include First Editions® Queen Bee, a Vitex agnus-castus variety with strong drought and heat tolerance, and Astilbe arendsii ‘Go Go Red’, which can flower again in autumn.

Resilience and sustainability

In the garden plant market, appearance and price are no longer the only key factors. Increasing attention is being paid to resistance to extreme weather conditions, shelf life at the point of sale, reduced use of plastics and more efficient production methods.

These topics will also be explored within the Plantarium Green Future Hub, which is designed as a platform for knowledge exchange between growers, experts and buyers.

From presentation directly to ordering

One of the main features of PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt is the possibility of combining new product discovery with direct ordering. The event therefore serves both as an exhibition and as a commercial marketplace.

The fair will be open on 26 August from 07:00 to 17:00 and on 27 August from 07:00 to 16:00. Admission is reserved for industry professionals and is free with advance registration.
